Liam got in touch with us in July to discuss a complete rebuild of his series 3 88. As you will see from the before pictures a partial restoration had been completed and Liam was looking for this to be finished properly to his desired specification, you will actually see a picture of a different series 3 that Liam sent me to show what he was looking for in the final finish.
The works included a full front chassis replacement with front cross member, steering relay and fabrication of front leaf spring hangers. The lower parts of the bulkhead required fabrication and welding as well as a number of places on the chassis. A full rebuild using new stainless steel nuts and bolts was then completed prior to a full respray. A new seatbelt frame was fabricated and fitted and the vehicle received a partial rewire with LED side lights and indicators fitted, including a pair of new sealed beams.
Mechanically a full service with oils, filters and sump gasket was carried out to the engine and the gearbox received new seals, where they had perished. All new break lines and hoses were replaced on the front and new brake fluid added. All the steering and suspension components were fully inspected with all receiving a re-grease and lubrication as well as all hanger bolts and axel to spring clamps being torqued.
The chassis benefited from a full internal wax oil and the Landy was finished off with a new black canvas and new number plates, before passing an MOT with no advisories.
As you can see from the after pictures we managed to get very close to the desired finish Liam was looking for and he was very pleased with the final outcome when he picked it up at the end of the rebuild in October.
